Presbyterian Women

PW Purpose: Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith by prayer and Bible Study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA), and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

The five Presbyterian Women Circles alternated hosting First Presbyterian’s Lenten lunches, providing soup or sandwiches for those in attendance. The April project for Presbyterian Women is camperships to Camp Albemarle. Funds for this project come from the PW budget rather than personal donations. If you know of a child who could benefit from a campership, contact Catherine Campbell at catherine@firstpresnb.org.

The Annual New Hope Presbyterian Women Spring Gathering will be hosted by West Raleigh Presbyterian Church on April 15 from 9 am to 1 pm. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Felicia W. Hardy. After several years of meeting virtually, this meeting will once again be held face to face. For more information, contact Emily Sprague at esprague600@gmail.com. You may also contact Carole Koi at jandckoi@gmail.com.

The five Circles will also be taking turns providing food for the Lenten Lunches that will be held in the Session House each Tuesday at noon, from February 28 to April 4.

Join a Circle by contacting a Circle leader listed below. Contact the church to get your own copy of this season's book. Things to look for in the study - each lesson includes an opening prayer and a closing prayer. Discussion questions at the end of each lesson are an excellent way to review each lesson. Suggestions for Leaders follow each lesson of "Celebrating Sabbath" and contain more than enough teaching activities for one hour of group study. The lessons are shaped with concept; Scripture; prepare; online options for groups that meet virtually; gather; dig deeper; respond; and close.
This is all covered in nine lessons:
Sabbath and Celebration
Sabbath and Creation
Sabbath and Sunday
Sabbath and Surrender
Sabbath and Servitude
Sabbath and Hospitality
Sabbath and Self-Care
Sabbath and Justice
Sabbath and Community

To all women of First Presbyterian Church:

We would like to encourage all of you to join a Circle this fall. It is a wonderful way to get to know other women of faith and to provide an important service to our church. Circles meet monthly from September to May, and there are several days and times from which to choose. We have fellowship, a brief meeting, and a Bible study led by various members.

The Circles are:
Presbyterian Women
Gatherings once a month for study and fellowship
This year, the PW study will be Celebrating Sabbath: Accepting God’s Gift of Rest and Delight by Carol M. Bechtel.  Sabbath reminds us to honor God who honors us by giving us a day each week to reset our pace, our priorities, and our lives.  Over nine lessons, participants will consider Sabbath anew and will come away renewed.  Contact Polly Frank at pollyfrank67@yahoo.com for more information.
