First Presbyterian Church is seeking a Part-time Sexton. The Part-Time Sexton supports the mission of the church by acting as caretaker of the church premises. This includes keeping the facilities clean, attractive, and accessible, creating an inviting and safe environment for worshipers.
This is a part-time/flexible position. The Part-time Sexton is supervised by the Facilities Administrator who coordinates with other staff, church committees/commissions, and volunteers to determine the Part-time Sexton’s schedule. The schedule will change from day to day based on special meetings, activities, or services at the church, but will normally be around 20 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (unless otherwise directed).
The Part-time Sexton’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: open buildings, turn on lights as needed, set heat or air, conduct basic cleaning activities such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting as needed or requested, removing trash and recyclables, occasionally clean bathrooms, restock soap, towels and toilet paper (following up after cleaning service) and make observations of the needs and condition of the church facilities, including issues to be addressed by the cleaning crew, and report to the Facilities Administrator.
The person should have knowledge of and skill in cleaning procedures and processes, products and equipment, knowledge of basic building maintenance, the ability to perform basic repairs and safely use the tools to do so, and the ability to work independently and be proactive with moderate supervision
Please contact David Taylor, Personnel Chairman, at cdtaylor695@gmail.com if you have a good candidate in mind.

Coastal Women’s Shelter
Volunteers are needed this spring! If you have some extra hours over the coming months, the Coastal Women’s Shelter could use your help. Their thrift store, Helping Hands Boutique, is located at 2509 Neuse Blvd. They need some extra hands to sort donations, thanks to the increase in donations during the spring-cleaning season. The boutique provides attractive, affordable clothing for women and helps raise money for the Shelter. To find out more, call Kellie Cornell, the Volunteer Coordinator at 252-638-4509 ext. 3.
Crisis in Ukraine – Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
The current Russian invasion that started on February 24 follows eight years of conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of people across the country are enduring bombings and assaults by Russian military forces, have lost power, and have been cut off from water and fuel. As people head toward the western regions, there is a shortage of food and other basic supplies. The UN anticipates that as many as 6.7 million will be displaced internally. Likewise, Ukrainians are fleeing to neighboring countries, primarily Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, and Slovakia, while others have moved to other European countries. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is working to fund sister churches and partner ecumenical organizations already in place in the region. To help support this work: Gifts can be made online, by calling (800) 872-3283, by texting PDAUKR to 41444, or by check made payable to Presbyterian Church U.S.A. with "DR000156-Ukraine" on the memo line and mail to: Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), P.O. Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700.
